Win in the Macao Guia Race
in a BMW M3
In hot Arizona, Emanuele had to start from the 9th position. One can see his teammate J. J. Lehto behind him, Martin Brundle in his Brabham is on the left.
Emanuele's result in qualifying made him start from the 12th position in the race, while his teammate J. J. Lehto had to start from the 19th position. Pirro eventually came in on 11th position.
In the streets of Monte Carlo: The 12th position on the grid (followed by teammate Lehto) was not bad, especially since Monte Carlo is probably the most difficult circuit in the world of Formula 1.
Emanuele Pirro finished 6th after 78 laps on the monegasic street course. This was his second and last point finish in Formula 1. Later in '91 in Australia he was 3rd, when an accident happend and the race was stopped with the red flag, for classification the positions of the penultimate lap are taken, unfortunatly he was only 7th on this lap.
The sparks indicate how close the chassis of a formula 1 car is to the road. Emauele started as 16th again he placed his car in front of his teammate J.J. Lehto, who qualified 20th. Emanuele finished his home Grand Prix in 10th position.
A shot of Pirro leaving the pits in qualifying, in which he eventually gained the 7th starting position. Unfortunately, Emanuele could not finish the race after his engine lost oil pressure.
